Global Geeta Chant
Kurukshetra University Kulgeet
As convener and singer for Kurukshetra University’s Kulgeet, Professor Sharma contributed to a musical expression of the University’s identity. The project connects her work in the Department of Music and Dance with the ceremonies and shared cultural life of the institution.
The anthem belongs to a collaborative undertaking involving contributors to its words, music and production. Her portfolio recognises her own role within that collective work.

She also contributed a commemorative jingle associated with the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

Community and Heritage Work
The Gulzari Lal Nanda Centre
Professor Sharma’s leadership of the Bharat Ratna Shri Gulzari Lal Nanda Centre of Ethics, Philosophy, Museum and Library has encompassed public dialogue, cultural education and practical community programmes. Its activities during 2024 and 2025 included lectures, school competitions, artisan workshops, commemorations and training initiatives.
These programmes connected the Centre’s educational and ethical concerns with opportunities for students and members of the wider community to participate in cultural and practical learning.
Artisan skills and regional traditions
An artisan exhibition and workshop took place from 29 November to 1 December 2024 under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, in association with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises office at Karnal. The programme brought artisan work and practical demonstrations into the Centre’s public activities.
A five-day Haryanvi folk arts workshop followed from 9 to 13 October 2025, organised with Swavalambi Bharat Abhiyan and the Department of Youth and Cultural Affairs at Kurukshetra University. It provided a setting for engagement with regional skills and the people who practise them.
Training and participation
A free tailoring and embroidery training centre was established on 9 June 2025 under the aegis of Swavalambi Bharat Abhiyan, in association with the Women’s Studies Research Centre and the Kurukshetra University Alumni Association. The initiative linked practical instruction with institutional cooperation and community participation.
Other programmes at the Centre included Sanskrit stotra singing, devotional and motivational music contests, declamation competitions, and dialogue on ethics and governance. Their range reflects an approach to cultural institutions as places of learning and continuing public engagement.
Cultural associations
Professor Sharma’s civil society record includes work with Sanskar Bharati, Bharat Vikas Parishad and initiatives associated with Swavlambi Bharat. These associations form part of her engagement with Bharatiya cultural heritage, social responsibility and opportunities for participation beyond the University.
Her work with Dharohar Haryana Cultural Museum adds a further institutional connection to the preservation and interpretation of regional culture. Together, these activities inform her interest in the relationship between cultural knowledge, education and community life.
